The Dutchess County Comprehensive Cancer Control Initiative was formed in 2006. The Department of Health working with community partners has formed The Dutchess County Comprehensive Cancer Consortium, a collaborative effort of individuals and organizations that share information and resources to better promote cancer prevention, improve cancer detection, increase access to health and social services and reduce the burden of cancer on a local level.
The Consortium produced a comprehensive cancer control plan in 2009 that includes all aspects of the disease, from prevention to quality of life and early detection. They continue to work in partnership to achieve their mision and vision in etablishing a continuum of care for those diagnosed with cancer and to ensure coordination and collaboration of preventive and supportive services thereby reducing the burden of cancer in Dutchess County.
